Carpe Diem Biomedical Writing and Editing

Services and Pricing

Copyediting: 5 cents/word

This service includes correction of English grammar,
vocabulary, and basic scientific style, as well as basic proofreading of scientific information that may be missing or unclear. (For example, I would point out missing cycling conditions from a PCR section within the Methods.  This service does not, however, include a complete scientific review, as would be done during peer review, nor does it include substantial rewriting of whole sections.)  Copyediting is available for manuscripts, dissertations, slide presentations, and posters.

Substantive editing: 10 cents/word

This service goes beyond copyediting to include more extensive rewriting, polishing of writing style, and reorganization of large sections to produce a more publishable paper. Substantive editing is available for manuscripts, slide presentations, and posters.

Looking for an approximate charge but not ready to run a word count?  An "average" scientific manuscript of about 4,000 words would translate to a cost of $200.00 (US dollars) for straightforward copyediting or $400.00 for substantive editing.

"Although I possess advanced english language skills, I gave my master thesis Dr. Copeland for editing. Introducing many significant corrections for grammar, word-choice and word-order, amongst other things, she returned a polished document with improved understandability and readability. The thesis smoothly passed the committee without any language-related objections. I recommend every non-native speaker to let their documents proof-read by an experienced editor such as Dr. Copeland."
